At her concert at Phoenix MarketCity tonight, Bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan will dish out a four-course-meal-of-a-performance. She laughs, “Expect starters, main course, a tea-break and desserts. There will be soft songs, dance numbers, some new ones, and, of course, my Kannada hits. Bangalore’s audiences have great taste; every time I perform here, I feel I am in good hands.”
When we called up Chauhan, she was in New Delhi where heavy rains had nixed her concert. Before that, she performed at a college fest in Hyderabad. And as we talked, reference of her shoot on a comedy TV show also came up. She says, “2016 has started with a bang. I had a beautiful release in Neerja. Fitoor songs did quite well, so did Saala Khadoos’. I recently got a doctorate from Rai University in Ahmedabad.”
Work on a single is also in the pipeline, so is her acting debut. She’s been reading a lot of scripts.
Chauhan is looking fit and fashionable than ever before. Did this makeover attract filmmakers? “That could be a possibility. But I had become really fat after my marriage (to Hitesh Sonik in 2012). Also, when you put on weight, your stamina goes down. And as a performer, I am always jumping on stage. So I needed to get that kind of energy back in my system,” signs off the 32-year-old.
