A look at the special recipe for Food Lovers Gourmet City and Chefs for Charity

Food Lovers Gourmet City, now in its second edition has a curated  line-up of old favourites and new culinary experiments at wallet-friendly prices. Gourmands should also catch the much awaited Chefs for Charity event, which allows you to fully indulge your taste buds and contribute to a worthy cause.

    Signature special
Kripal Amanna of Food Lovers Magazine explains the concept behind the event. “When a first-time diner visits a restaurant, the menu can be confusing or deceptive. We cut to the chase by getting the restaurateurs to curate a menu of their best offerings and price it affordably. So both chef and diner are happy,” he explains. Twenty restaurants from Whitefield to Yelahanka are in the line up including newbies Alba and Spice Terrace (JW Marriott), The Lantern (The Ritz Carlton), I & Monkey, Vembanad (The Paul), Bene (Sheraton at Brigade Gateway), The Pink Poppadom (Hyatt Bangalore) as well as Mezzaluna (Moevenpick Hotel & Spa).

    International  flavours
Menus span global and Indian cuisines, each offering around 20 of their most popular dishes. For example, Burrata (fresh mozzarella and tomato salad) at Alba, crab cakes at Citrus, smoked salmon bruschetta at I & Monkey, kachhe gosht ki biryani at Umerkot and John Dory Al Prosciutto at Mezzaluna to name a few.

“Eating out is expensive so you don’t want to play a game of chance  with the menu. And these prices are reduced by 50 to 60 per cent,” Amanna tells us.

    Charitable recipes
The event culminates in the grand Chefs for Charity — a fund raiser in support of Snehalaya that Amanna and his team passionately support. “A few chef friends of mine took me along to Snehalaya on one of their food distribution days. We were so impressed at the way the nuns, who run the orphanage, do not limit themselves to feeding and clothing the children but provide them with  good quality education too,” he shares. Look out for the top chefs from each of the 20 restaurants coming together to cook-up four of their signature dishes each. Payment  is by cheques  made out to Snehalaya. “The diner gets to taste the best from each cuisine while contributing to a worthy cause,” adds Amanna.
