Following close on the heels of last week’s art exhibitions, we have Art for Concern, an initiative by Concern India Foundation. The idea is to promote Indian art and create a platform for promising and established artists, to showcase their work and for art connoisseurs to access said work.
The art exhibition comes to Chennai this weekend, with more than 25 artists at the Lotus Lounge at the ITC Grand Chola. According to Anjana Khanna, the head of the art initiative, “We have big names like Thota Tharani and Akbar Padamsee. We also have upcoming artists as part of the charity show. Some of the artists have been with us right from the beginning. We also believe that there are a lot of youngsters who need exposure and we support the,” she says. Khanna says, the show will travel to other cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata and Delhi.
A helping hand
Art for Concern helps provide financial and non-financial support to over 270 grass root initiatives. ‘‘This event we have been holding is more than just an art show, the aim of the initiative is to help these organisations develop,’’ says Khanna.
At ITC Grand Chola, today and tomorrow, from 5.30 pm onwards. Details: 22200000
