A new pocket friendly eatery with a little bit of everything
MARWA Restaurant is the newest food corner in BTM Layout with Indian, Chinese and Lebanese food on its affordable menu. The unpretentious exteriors lead to a surprisingly homely space with cosy wooden sections and splashes of warm colour.
We started with in-house specials like the Banjara chicken and the reshmi kebab – which were bursting with flavours and rich in spices. Then a leg of mai kai chicken which tasted suspiciously like the Oriental version of Chicken 65, shredded chicken and homemade crispy chicken wings, which was well seasoned with vinegar, cayenne pepper and hot sauce.
For something more hearty, the tawa gosht hits the spot with tender chunks of mutton in a thick gravy of cashew and tomato and lots of mild spices. The lagan ka murgh and nihari gosht were more variations of the same. Vegetarians have decent choices like the rich paneer pasanda which we found a bit on the sweeter side. Perhaps due to the cashew nuts and fresh cream. We were also served a basket of butter and garlic naan as accompaniments. We ended our meal with a serving of gajar ka halwa. A good place when on a modest budget.
