The Shop celebrates the Mughal era with vibrant florals
Taking inspiration from the Mughals, The Shop Delhi brings to the city a collection of garments and home linen, sporting the elegant and vibrant floral motifs that surfaced from that era. Completely handwoven, the pieces are all crafted from pure cotton and silk and make for ideal gifts for the forthcoming festive season. Having begun its foray into textiles in 1969, The Shop focuses on handprinted textiles inspired by traditional motifs and designs. As a brand, they strive to effectively blend old world charm with contemporary sensibilities, and bring out products that are unique, colourful and fun, retailing across the globe at stores like Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Harrods and Galleries Layafette.
What to expect
On the home linen front, you can choose from bed and table linen, throws, cushions and cushion covers. Should you choose to keep it strictly sartorial, their range also includes fitted jackets, harem pants, kurtas, kurtis, tunics, stoles, strappy dresses and sleepwear in silk, cotton and stretch cotton fabrics. We found a printed Malabar pistachio table cloth quite appealing, as well as a charcoal number sporting contrasting parrot green prints. Of the jackets, we spotted a crimson number with printed fuschia florals and birds, complemented by lime green foliage. Perfect for a hot day, or an informal brunch, a coral flowy dress was quite impressive, bearing the same prints as the jacket.
