By Hand, From The Heart returns with map-printed bags from Madras Motif and other great finds
For craft lovers, Deepa Sekar is back with her 15th edition of the By Hand, From The Heart artisan and farmers’ market. The event sees participants from Chennai, Hyderabad, Pondicherry, Bengaluru and Mumbai. Sekar says, “There is quite a variety of crafts this time. We are seeing a lot of new genres like pop art, illustrators and digital designers.”
Sandhya Manne, an artist, will be offering the meditative art form called Zentangle. It focusses on drawing repetitive patterns to calm your mind. She will also be conducting workshops for those keen to learn it. A visual artist, Rathee Ramani Iyer from her label Aurpera, will be bringing her collection, Nostalgia Party, that features decor, stationery and more with pop art illustrations (like digital collages using pictures of old Bollywood actresses, old architecture and celestial elements). Also look out for Sudha Sekar’s bags from her label Madras Motif. “I have a glamorous black and gold piece in croc-style artificial leather (`3,500),” she says, besides funky map-printed bags. Another highlight will be Roshni Mohan, who is introducing her jewellery brand, Neelayadakshi, featuring jhumkas, chokers and more made with brass and nickel safety pins (`250 onwards). And don’t leave without picking up farm-fresh organic vegetables from Nallakeerai, who will be putting up their stall only tomorrow.
February 27 – 28, from 10 am to 8 pm. At Hanu Reddy Residences. Products from `50 onwards.
