A nod to femininity
Using shades of black, grey, mauve and pink, Chennai-based Kirusiya Rani’s paintings explore the female form. Displaying 24 works of acrylic on canvas, they portray the endurance of a woman during childbirth and other themes. From tomorrow till March 30, at Kadambari Art Gallery. Varma lives on
Discover a rich display of lithographs by celebrated artist Raja Ravi Varma at Aurodhan Gallery, Kuruchikuppam, this month. They feature Hindu deities and scenes from the Mahabharata and Ramayana printed by the Ravi Varma Press. The works exhibited under ‘Reciprocal Influences of Ravi Varma on Tamil Art’ inspired various artists and were reproduced on calendars across India during his period and even today. Curated by the Raja Ravi Varma Heritage Foundation, the exhibit is open from 10 am to 6 pm. Details: 0413 2222795
