mGaadi brings no fuss autos to your door step
No more brusque refusals and extortionist rates to reach your destination thanks to mGaadi, a new dial-an-auto app. Founded by Solomon Prakash and Vishy Kuruganti, the concept came to Prakash years ago when he realised there was no dial-in system for auto rickshaws. “There was no effort to organise the rickshaw sector, though in all major cities they are very important for commuters on a daily basis,” he says, adding that Kuruganti too was exploring the social enterprise space. Together, they formed India Drivers Network Services Pvt Ltd – the parent company of this service.
How it works
Connect through an upcoming mobile app on Android, Windows and iOS, log on to their web app find.mgaadi.com or call 42421414. Like radio cabs, the customer care will locate the nearest ride and if he is willing to make the journey then the driver’s number and details will be sent to you. And while mGaadi cannot ensure an auto reaches you, they do expect that one of 4,000 autos in the city will turn up! “There is a small mGaadi sticker on the auto so you can identify them. And although we’ve had a fantastic response from drivers and customers, we’re currently reaching only a small section,” shares Prakash, hoping the launch of the mobile app and expansion to eight cities including New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai will widen the net.
What we love
The company deals with five-star rated auto drivers (4,000 out of a total 2 lakh) who are agreeable to make the destination runs, have accurate meters, and who are safe, rule-abiding, pleasant and polite. All for just `10 extra. Currently, they function with mGaadi and mGaadi express (a higher level of service and easier payment).
