Save the date for the first city-wide laser tag tournament, being hosted at three different arenas.
TIME to gear up with laser sensor vests and laser guns and hunt down your opponents in darkness as Fizz, a deals and discount app, is organising The Apocalypse, Chennai’s first city-wide laser tag tournament, starting tomorrow. Open to all, the winning teams from each participating arena (Chaos Entertainment in Royapettah, Laser Tag Chennai Battlefield in Kilpauk and Spectre Funtanment in Velachery) will be joined by a wild card team for the semi-finals on Sunday. This will be followed by the final on the same day at Spectre Funtanment. “We expect students and corporates to take part,” shares Aditi Jalan, co-founder of three-month old Fizz.
With six laser tag arenas functioning in the city today, Karthik Kalimuthu, CEO of Chaos Entertainment (the city’s first laser tag arena), shares, “Laser tag was developed from combat training techniques of the US military.” While Sriraaj G, event manager of Spectre Funtanment, tells us that the game that is popular among youngsters in their 20s is very similar to paintball but the laser tag vest has photo diode slots that start blinking when you are hit. Expecting up to 150 participants,the winning team (of four to five participants) stands a chance to win Rs 7,500 besides gift vouchers.
