On Android and iOS next, this app helps dads and moms understand the issues of raising kids
It doesn’t matter whether your kid is a two-year-old with teething problems or a 13-year-old who is just going on her first date — ZenParent helps parents cope with tasks that life does not prepare them for. The Bengaluru-based website, launched last November by startup incubators i2india Ventures (aka Venture Factory), was initially meant to be a smart safety watch for children, but has now turned into an app that delivers custom content to parents, depending on the age group of their kids. “We were working on a watch, but after talking to a lot of parents, we realised that they needed a solution to several problems and decided on the website,” says Supriya Hiremagalur, co-founder of the site, who was a management consultant before she joined i2india.
“The app that was launched just 10 days ago, gives you push notifications about events happening in your city, that are relevant for your child,” Hiremagalur shares one of its features, that is only available in Bengaluru now. But a recent inflow of funds ($500,000 from i2india) will be going towards boosting operations so that features like these will be available in cities outside of the garden city as well. Till then, parents in other parts of the country can still enjoy other features like their quick healthy recipes, movie and book reviews (that inform you about content that may not be suitable for your kid) and articles on parenting problems. “Our articles are being consumed across India at the moment,” says Hiremagalur, adding that all their writers are parents, living in different cities (even Paris). With a psychologist on board, ZenParent will also be signing up a doctor and teacher soon, and ensure that the content is relevant to any parent — be it a father or mother. Currently available only on Android, the iOS version of the app is expected to be ready in a week. Details: zenparent.in, play.google.com
