Delhi-based Ashish N Soni, known for his no-nonsense approach to fashion, brings his brand of bespoke to the city for an evening with the finely-crafted Scotch whisky, Chivas 18. The ‘artisanal soiree’ will include a film screening on bespoke, some jazz, and a mingling of both whisky and fashion connoisseurs.
Of late, liquor and fashion companies have been capitalising on joint marketing drives. Soni, whose partnership with another Pernod Ricard brand, Absolut Vodka, saw a fine retrospective a couple of years ago, is thrilled to be replicating Delhi’s ‘Chivas and bespoke’ experience, where it appears to have been a big hit in February. We got the designer, who will be launching his bespoke services at Evoluzione today, to tell us more about the perfect suit:
When it comes to a bespoke suit, the cut defines it all and is by far the most important element in the experience. I insist on double vent jackets. Pocket squares are a great accessory, especially when in a premium silk. We are doing a beautiful line of digitally printed ones.
Avoid putting coins, keys, phones in your suit pockets as that destroys the jacket eventually. I love using extremely lightweight wools, which have superior yarn counts, ranging anywhere from 150s to 180s.
At our atelier we like to take anywhere from six to eight weeks to do real justice to the end product. The price range for our made-to-measure is Rs60,000 upwards, while our bespoke price range is Rs90,000 and upwards.
