Will Hrithik strike gold?
This Dhanteras, Hrithik Roshan, Rakesh Roshan and the team of Krrish 3 will be hoping to strike gold! By the time you read this, the reviews on the superhero film might already be coming out. Personally, I am a little concerned about the efficiency of the special effects and the rather unimaginative collection of mutants featured in the film, which also stars Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi. Hrithik plays two ages in the film – the younger Krrish and his older father. It apparently took three hours for Hrithik to transform into the older character. As Hrithik had said in the trailer launch of Krrish 3, he felt pretty strong because of all the support he got during his brain tumour surgery. It’s remarkable to see his speedy recovery and the zeal with which he has been promoting his latest film. For that alone one hopes Krrish 3 lights up the box office this Diwali.
Fans of the novel Q&A, which became a multiple Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire, might be excited to note that author Vikas Swarup’s other novel Six Suspects is currently under development. Argentine director Pablo Trapero is helming the crime drama. Casting is believed to be on and one of the early names doing the rounds is that of Prakash Raj. The film is slated to begin shooting in March 2014. The book is about the murder of a minister’s son at a dinner party and the six people suspected of the crime. After the way Slumdog Millionaire transformed so many lives and careers, it would require a truly valid excuse to refuse this international production.
Rahul gets it write
Rahul Bose may have lost out on the rights to the cinematic adaptation of Mohsin Hamid’s The Moth Smoke, but undeterred, he is determinedly writing a new experimental script, which he probably hopes to direct. His last film as a director was Everybody Says I’m Fine in 2001. He’s got enough acting assignments on the anvil too, having completed a Bengali film Shesher Kabita with Konkona Sen Sharma, a Bangladeshi Film, Under Construction, with Shahana Goswami and Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroop2/ Vishwaroopam 2. Even though he was the lead in Pyaar Ke Side Effects, he does not have a role in its sequel Shaadi Ke Side Effects, which headlines Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan. Between his writing, film commitments, activism, sport and advocacy, Bose keeps himself busy, energised and fit.
Gushing in Goa?
Recently a newspaper carried a report about Ranveer Singh getting a diktat from his management team to tone down the gushing over Ram Leela co-star Deepika Padukone. Rumour has it that the actors are seeing each other which has only helped promote Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film. It is a riot of colours and has one of the worst choreographed songs in recent history – the ‘hairography’ number in the ‘Tattad tattad’ song! But anyway, back to the point. So, even as this report came out in a national tabloid, sources from the set revealed that Singh was chilling out in Goa, spending time with the lovely Miss Padukone while she was shooting for Homi Adajania’s short film Finding Fanny Fernandes. Wonder what her co-stars – Arjun Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia – have to say about
