The Dog Park hosts pooches and their humans for a fun Sunday
Ever wanted to step out for a meal but didn’t want to leave your pet behind? If yes, this breakfast event at The Dog Park is just what you’ve been looking for. The park was launched earlier this year with the aim to allow people to spend time with their furry friends at social events. Even though there are a few cafes and restaurants that are dog friendly, there is not much space for the dogs. “I have a boxer myself,” says Srikanth Shankar, one of the co-founders, adding “She is a high energy breed and needs lots of space to run around in.” Three friends, including renowned dancer Lourd Vijay, Anjana George and Shankar started the park on a property that belongs to Vijay.
Titled Breakfast with Dogges, the event is the best excuse to get out of the city with your pet. You can meet other pets and their families and tuck into a sumptuous breakfast spread. In the past, the venue has organised events like Camping with Dogs and brunch meets, which were wildly successful. More than 450 dogs have visited the property and the founders themselves are surprised by the response.
For the event, The Dog Park has tied up with their own caterer who will provide special menus. The pooches can expect steamed rice with chicken, vegetables, boiled eggs and buttermilk, while their humans can sample a South Indian and Continental spread, with favourites like idlis, dosas, omelettes, sandwiches and freshly-squeezed juices.
The event is also open to non-pet owners who just want to interact with the dogs. The venue has over 10 acres of greenery and a natural lake where the dogs can go swimming.
With the Bannerghatta forest close by, it is a perfect Sunday getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. “The idea is to create new experiences for dogs and dog parents. We want them to be able to do stuff that would not normally involve their four-legged friends,” sums up Shankar.
