Vimonisha’s Mega Style Souk is back with everything you need for the wedding season

From a traditionally inclined crowd, oblivious to fashion trends and high-end designers to slowly emerging into a design stronghold, the city has come a long way, opines entrepreneur Monisha Gidwani. With her Vimonisha Mega Style Souk, a two-day shopping event opening at the Hyatt Regency this Monday, she says, “We started with five designers two decades ago and now we stand at close to 65. Chennai has made a place for itself in the country’s fashion map and designers across product lines want to explore this market.”

Focussing primarily on the ongoing wedding season, the bazaar’s 115th edition will not only have garments and accessories for brides, but also a range of wedding solutions from photographers to decor, sets and gifting.

Carrying a marsala and gold theme this year, expect regulars like Alankrita studio from New Delhi and Weaver’s Story from Benares, as well as Bollywood go-to-experts like Rhea Pillai, with her temple sarees and Queenie Singh’s eponymous jewellery brand at the event. Monisha particularly suggests that we check out the modern minimalist line from Bengaluru-based Latha Puttana, bringing out her ethnic design philosophy in garments from dresses and blouses to pallazos.

Garments and accessories from Rs 5,000 onwards. Entry Free. January 23-24 from 11am to 8pm at Hyatt Regency. Details: 61001234
