Burger Shack in Mahabalipuram offers hamburgers, pastas, sandwiches and more

Tired of the seafood in Mahab-alipuram? Burger Shack, part of Gatsby Group which owns Tryst, opened last Saturday on Mahabalipuram Main Road, offering  an alternative in burgers, pastas, steaks and deserts. “We always wanted to do something in the lines of comfort food in Mahabalipuram. Most of the places specialise in seafood and few in Continental,” explains Omar Sait, director Gatsby Collection.

The 25-seat restaurant (700 sq ft) as Sait puts it, is ‘a scaled-down version of Tryst’. “It’s more for university students, backpackers and expats. Whereas Tryst is more premium and offers Mexican and Thai cuisine,” answers Sait when asked why he didn’t consider opening Tryst in Mahabalipuram.

Burger Shack offers burgers in beef, fish, chicken and vegetable versions, with a few sandwiches, pastas, lasagne and beef, chicken steaks too. “Our beef is sourced from Bangalore,” offers the director, adding that “Tryst has gained a fan following in Chennai. We wanted to spread that credibility in Mahabalipuram through Burger Shack.”

Those with a sweet tooth can tuck into chiffon pie, cheesecakes and pineapple walnut crumble. And if that’s not enough, just outside Burger Shack you will find souvenirs, old books and more at The Market Place. “We want to do something on the lines of the Sunday Soul Sante in Bangalore,” he insists.

Prices from Rs 90 onwards. Located at Fisherman Colony, Salavankuppam. Details: 27442850
