The Shopping Diaries’ second edition brings together a host of homemade products.
IF YOU are in the mood for some much-needed weekend retail therapy, head to The Silk Route today and spend your afternoon browsing through handmade gifting items for the festive season or pick up some homemade munchies to eat while you shop. Event organisers, Soda Pop, is back with the second edition of The Shopping Diaries, its day-long pop-up celebrating city-based small enterprises (run mostly by women).
With 21 stalls this time, sample delectable homemade brownies (Rs 50) or take home delicious ready-to-eat gourmet makhni gravy jars (Rs 120) from The Saute Couture stall by food blogger Harshita Mirpuri. The 22-year-old started her food catering business six months ago and will be putting up her stall with her mother, Prerna, who will also be showcasing homemade terracotta lamps. Stop over at Bottled Bliss for natural body care products (Rs 100 onwards), which co-founder Mansi Mehta claims are made with the focus on using kitchen ingredients. Another interesting stall is by Sunitha Gadhiya and her two sisters-in-law, Priya and Chandna. While Sunitha specialises in sari covers (Rs 300 onward), Priya will be selling handmade rakhis (Rs 30 onward)—made of metal and satin ribbons with colourful beads—and money envelopes (Rs 25 onward), while Chandna will be selling sandals and shoes (Rs 1,000 onward), sourced from Pakistan and Dubai.
