Stop at Studio Ebony for tasteful furniture, crochet table covers and lighting solutions
Fans of teak, rosewood and cane have good reason to stop by Studio Ebony, a new furniture store on Canteen Street, Pondicherry. Started by Samuel Victor and Ramu Subbiah from Chennai, the brand has been around from 2000 but is only two months old in Pondicherry. a?Most of our craftsmen and designers were trained by late French master Pattrick Laffourcard and our unit is located in Pondicherry. Each of our products is handmade with very little machine work,aa says Victor, 48.
As for fans of the Pondicherry label, Cane Lab, whose designers, Jean Marc and Dominique, now live in France, you can find their products here. It seems their Lucy Hanging Chair, at Canteen Street, will never go out of style. Besides furniture, Studio Ebony also has custom made lighting solutions for the indoors. a?Made from fabrics and acrylic, our products come in various colours and sizes. These lighting beauties can transform dull corners or brighten up a long corridor,a? insists Victor who, with a masters in business administration, has been dealing with furniture since 1995. While the lightingA accessories are priced from `1050, there are satin cushions and curtains to help to coordinate the rest of the decor. They also have carpets and crochet table covers. As for choosing Pondicherry after setting up branches in Chennai and Bangalore, Victor says, a?It is a place where art and different cultures meet. There is a great expat community and ever growing Indian customers.a?
