The Leela Palace now gives Chennai the salon that celebrities like Ivanka Trump, Scarlett Johansson and Kate Beckinsale go to in New York. The NY brand, Warren Tricomi Salon, is now open at the hotel along with an art gallery. Since, their launch on December 1, the salon has been offering hair cuts for children, men and women in addition to manicures, skin treatments, grooming for men, waxing and bridal packages. “We have special packages for the bride and bridesmaids,” says Leena D’Souza, the corporate manager.
The highlight, she points out, is their hair therapy. ”We use a camera to diagnose how dry your scalp is and then suggest a therapy. We have five types of rituals like the homme ritual and the signature kerathermie ritual,” she reveals, sharing that they use brands like OPI for the nails, Clarins and Forest Essentials for the skin, Kerastase for the hair, and milk, chocolate, banana and aloe vera flavoured wax for treatments. Most of their chairs (aka pedi-spa-units) come with an in-built massage and jacuzzi.
At Galleria, the art gallery, there is an ongoing exhibition curated by Sharan Apparao that sees the work of five artists — N Ramachandran, Alexis Kersey, George K, A Bala and Manish Nai. “I chose the artists based on balance, proportion, aesthetics and rhythm. We wanted our art to be available to that part of the city, which includes Adyar and ECR,” says Apparao, who calls this her first formal hotel exhibition. “I have curated a couple of events and have my art with some of the hotels but this is the first time we have got an alternative space,” she says.
Hair rituals at the salon start from Rs 1,000 onwards. Details: 33661234
