    Bamboo and earth classes, a paper workshop and an art exhibit made of fire ash—go back to nature

    Starting tomorrow, the exhibit Unconditional Love at Pitanga Cultural Centre will showcase 50 paintings by Russian artist Elena Akhmetschina. The highlight is that the paintings have been created with fire ash on paper—based on the Advaita philosophy of “unity as a state of being”. From 9 am onwards. Details: 0413 2622403

    Yatra Arts Foundation in Auroville is starting Carnatic veena classes today. Taught by Ravi, a musician from Kamakudi village in Kanchipuram with over 20 years of experience, the classes will begin with basic raagas, making it a good option for beginners.     Paper play
    Auroville is conducting a paper making workshop on Saturday and Sunday. Frenchman Herve, an expert from Auroville Papers, will first teach participants various techniques of making handmade paper and then show them how to craft decorative items out of them—photo-frames, jewellery, card holders, pen stands, etc. A participation certificate will be provided on completion and participants will get to  take home their creations.
