Our pick of the most frivolous lawsuits that involve Hollywood A-listers
Nicki Minaj’s former hairstylist and wig designer, Davidson, filed a $30 million lawsuit against the rapper last year for allegedly stealing his wig designs and selling them on her site as her own, which cost him a potential reality show. In his suit, Davidson said he’d designed several wigs for Minaj, including the Pink Upper Bun Wig, the Fox Fur Wig and the Half Blonde-Half Pink Wig. He said there were plans for the two to launch a wig line and discussions were on about a possible reality show, but Minaj cut him out.
American singer Mariah Carey and her estranged husband, Nick Cannon, are fighting a lawsuit filed by their former nanny, DaCosta. She alleges she was fired for showing the couple’s kids too much affection and that she wasn’t given overtime pay despite working for more than 100 hours per week. Her official documents state that, “she was on duty at all hours of the day, with no entitlement for breaks, meals or even for sleep.’’ She further claims that the singer would often call at odd hours in the middle of the night and demand to be taken to her children or to be updated as to the status of her children. Whose side are you on?
Actress Paz de la Huerta, who is well known for her roles in A Walk to Remember and the drama series Boardwalk Empire, sued Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation last year. Her claim was that she was run over by an ambulance while filming Nurse 3D. Lions Gate filed a motion to dismiss her suit, which Huerta opposed again. Lions Gate then opposed her opposition, leading to a loop of oppositions. All this has just got us confused.
The bootylicious Kim Kardashian is often in the line of fire. This time, Jonathan Kimberly from Florida has targeted the socialite for a sex tape that has allegedly caught her steamy affair with Florida senator Marco Rubio in the state capital in Tallahassee, last month. “Marco and Kim have collectively been threatening my life with death threats and bodily harm unless I return the tape to them,” he said. Kimberly also sued the three sisters—Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney. “They sped up to me in an A-team van, jumped out with burglar masks on and began bashing my head. Kim jammed the water hose in my mouth, Khloe pushed a squeegee on my face, I was lathered down with hot soapy water, which offended me,” he says.
