Home Chennai After Dark Champions of the night

We thought that this week would see the lull that follows the end of any big sporting event, but there turned out to be more than enough to keep us busy. While one half was happy not to have to stay up till the early hours of the morning, the rest didn’t even miss a beat. A toast to the champions and on with the party. It looked like there was equal support for Germany and Argentina, with most groups split pretty much in half. Others were happy just to enjoy the closing ceremony and watch Shakira do what she does best.
The launch of the Jaguar XJ at the ITC Grand Chola kept the celebrations going, allowing brand loyalists to take a closer look at the new beauty. And it wasn’t just about the car. There was something for everyone, with singer Tanvi Shah performing a versatile set, going easily from Hindi to Tamil to even some Latin American flavour. MC-ing the show was former VJ Ramona Arena who looked stunning and really complemented the tone of the evening. She might have been missing in action, but word on the streets is that we might see her in a few ‘South-based’ projects very soon.

More celebs slinked out from the shadows throughout the week, with a huge group of starlets taking the stage at the launch of the latest issue of Ritz. Kavya Shetty, Rupa Manjari, Sanchita Shetty and Saloni Luthra were the guests of honour, unveiling this month’s cover featuring entrepreneur Sam Paul. The congratulatory speeches were many, and Aishwarya Rajinikanth received the first copy.
Sanchita was also seen at the launch of the ninth Essensuals by Toni & Guy, rounding up the launches for the week. Reflecting their brand philosophy, the show saw models sporting international looks that are affordable to a younger crowd. The collection had a raw vibe to it, with a street style meets catwalk look, which we were promised is low maintenance. Colour was also a focal point, with the in house stylists showing us what a tiny bit of tweaking can do.
