    Head to Trios Fashion Show next weekend to enjoy an evening of ramp action, while contributing for a cause.

    In aid of Bengaluru-based orphanage Courtesy Foundation, the show is hosted by city-based Suvastra Designs and will feature the collections of the designers Ahamed Ansarudeen, Shalini Visakan and Dinesh Kumar.

    Professional models aside, the event will also have physically challenged people walking the ramp, resplendent in bridal and Western wear.

    Power snaps

    This is a shout-out to passionate female photographers around the city who are willing to receive some constructive criticism.

    Organised by city-based photographer and founder of the Facebook group ‘Chennai Fearless Women Photographers’, Shannon Zirkle, the upcoming meeting ‘Show and Tell’  is a photo critique session where women photographers can bring in five soft copies of their pictures that they have clicked, for reviewing.

    Heritage hop

    December 3, Saidapet

    From century-old colleges and dhobi ghats to ancient mosques and temples, explore all the shades of Saidapet in a heritage walk tomorrow.

    Hosted by a city-based social activist, the walk starts at the Saidapet court, and will cover areas such as the Marmalong bridge, Soundareswarar Temple, the Teachers Training College and Jennis Road, giving you insights of the places’ origins.

    The walk ends at the Saidapet railway station.

    Sweet retreat

    December 4, Swiss Hutte

    Offering a whole range of home-baked savouries and desserts is the upcoming The Christmas Confectionery Carnival at Swiss Hutte.

    The event will feature some of Chennai’s best home bakers — H&H Gourmet Cakes by Nahla, Choc of the Town by Subhathra, and Bakers Bakes by Diana. The carnival will have jams, cakes, dessert jars, cookies, tarts and breads on offer.

    The event will also have Christmas games like Pin the nose on the reindeer, for children. All proceeds will go to charity.

    Hit and myth

    If you are a fan of folktales and mythologies, then join city-based book club ‘We Read, Therefore We Are’, for a three-hour discussion on folk stories from Japan to India.

    Moderated by Shivshankar, head of the city-based club, the monthly-event has a free-flowing format, where book lovers can share their opinions on a particular genre or theme.

    Crown prints

    December 2-6, Alwarpet

    Uttar Pradesh-based apparel brand Hands of India will present an exhibition of its handcrafted products, bringing indigenous fabric designs to the fore.

    Featuring Jahota hand-block printing and Daabka Ajrakh, a vegetable-dyed motif, the exhibit will have dupattas, saris and kurtis in silk cotton, ikat and chanderi.

    Also expect Western wear like skirts, tunics and palazzos. At CP Art Centre.

    Play sketch up

    December 10, Adyar

    Get introduced to the world of Interior design with city-based architect Bhavani Aannandan.

    Organised by Play Coop, a city-based preschool, the workshop will have the architect talk to aspiring interior designers about basic aspects of colour and lighting.

    Students will get to learn how to make free-hand sketches, apart from engaging in interactive discussions on how to design based on geographic conditions.

    Pop-up junction

    The second edition of Lime Soda is back with over 45 stalls under one roof.

    The pop-up exhibition includes a line-up of more than 20 designer labels from around the country.
