    Leave with a leaf

    As a flood relief initiative by the Chennai Expat Community, artist Rahool Saksena’s installation, the Tree of Hope, is on display at Crowne Plaza. The leaves of the Christmas tree are made of 500 recycled and pressed beer bottles. These leaves are also up for auction, and the proceeds will go for the cause, to the Arcot Foundation.     City-based classical pianist Anil Srinivasan will perform at Luz House with veena artiste Dr Jayanthi Kumaresh and carnatic musician Sikkil Gurucharan. As part of Anil’s contribution towards schools that have suffered damages during the floods, audiences are welcome to donate. “Keeping in mind the somberness and dignity associated with the cause, we will play meditative and reflective music,” says Srinivasan.     Ride away

    Ciclo Cafe is hosting Cycle for Chennai in association with five cycling clubs from the city. Participants will cycle from Madhya Kailash to Ciclo Cafe with optional stretches of either 30 kilometers or 60 kilometers. The proceeds of this event go towards NGOs helping out with flood-relief efforts. Participants will receive breakfast and T-shirts sponsored by the cafe. Passes at Rs 500 per head.     Toast at the coast
    Surf Turf in Kovalam is hosting a coastal Christmas dinner on December 25.
