Lisa Haydon on the AXN awards, her B-town stint and scary clowns

KNOWN for their action-based shows, AXN is back with yet another on air property — the AXN Thrillionaire Awards. According to Sunil Punjabi, business head, AXN India, the channel will hunt for the biggest AXN ‘total thrill junkie’ and give the winner an opportunity to be on the sets of The Voice in Los Angeles. “We realised that people in India love serials, English content and different genres,” he says. The event will be hosted by supermodel Lisa Haydon, and Punjabi further shares, “We found out she follows our channel closely. She has an excellent command over the English language and also has a presence in Bollywood.” While AXN is popularly associated with the adventure genre, Punjabi insists, “Our shows are for all age groups and we do have shows like Sherlock Holmes and So You Think You Can Dance. That said, our shows always have the thrill element.”

All about the movies
Haydon started her movie career with Ayesha and went on to do movies like Rascals. Now busy promoting her latest venture, Queen,  along with Kangana Ranaut, directed by Vikas Bahl, she says, “It has been crazy.  I  play Vijaylakshmi, an independent woman who is sporty and lives in the moment. Quite opposite to the character Rani, played by Kangana,” says Haydon, who wishes to do an action hero movie soon and is working on a movie produced by Viacom. Will Queen be her comeback in Bollywood? “I think every movie takes you forward a little bit,” she says.

Thrill factor
Haydon admits that she enjoys intense TV shows. “I am not a couch potato. I like shows with a lot of drama and activity-based shows like So You Think You Can Dance. I grew up watching Who Dares Wins with my family,” she says, adding that thrill is a state of mind. “Anything you do, be it driving to Goa, a roller coaster ride, travelling to a new city, river rafting etc, can be an adventure,” she believes. But it appears this tough and independent girl has her weaknesses too. ‘‘I am very scared of clowns. They are happy faces that are fake!
You never know what is behind that mask,” she confides.

AXN Thrillionaire Awards is on March 28.
