Keep sun damage in check with a range of new facials, courtesy leading salons in the city

It’s the season for sun, sand and surf, but that doesn’t mean we love the tan lines that come along with it. Two popular beauty salon chains in the city are gearing up with special treatments for summer that will target pigmentation, sun damage, wrinkles and dehydrated skin. First up is Green Trends with its new Fantastic Five range of facials—including Fair Bloom and White Sparkle —that claims to give you  radiant, wrinkle-free skin.

    Platinum perfect

We decided to give the platinum glow facial a try. The pitch included removing tan and renewing skin cells. Apart from the usual cleanser-toner-massage routine (satisfactory at best), it included generous slathers of papaya with a serum and cream of platinum colloids. While the papaya mask seemed to succeed in removing tan lines, we’d caution against people with sensitive skin using it (it can be quite harsh). Overall, the result was rejuvenated, radiant skin, but unfortunately, the oily T-zone remained.

The USP, however, lies in the metal—a little dose of platinum serum can go a long way towards maintaining the skin’s electrical balance and adjusting to volatile weather. It also slows down skin’s ageing. In terms of uniqueness, blackheads and whiteheads were dealt with painlessly, with a lotion pad, and a fruit enriched-soothing mask was provided for mildly sensitive skin. If you’re above 30, go for the glowing radiance facial for firm, wrinkle-free skin.

Fantastic Five facials available at all Green Trends outlets. From Rs. 1,100 to Rs. 1,500. Details: 18004202020

    French connection

At Lakme Salons, the experts have whipped up a three-course French treat for your skin. Their Luminance 3+ facial, which uses Sothys products, promises to give your skin a triple boost: tan removal, spot reduction and radiance. Right from the get go, the 75-minute treatment is indulgent. The cleansing ritual is thorough—with three repetitions that last over five minutes.

As the facial does not incorporate steaming (it encourages pores to become bigger), the scrub—a unique blend that requires eight minutes of scrubbing (with two minute breaks in between)—painlessly melts away blackheads and whiteheads.

The USP are the noctuelle cream that gives a moisture boost to pump up dull skin, and the Vitamin C serum, which targets pigmentation and dark spots. Overall, the result is firm, radiant skin.

Luminance 3+ facial is available at all Lakme Salons. Rs. 4,000++. Details: lakmeindia.com
