For a big dose of comfort food, head to Infinito Cafe
GRANTED a mall is not a place for comfort food cravings, but for a crowd-pleasing menu that hits all the right spots, without taking a toll on your wallet, head to this new all-day dining cafe. You can tuck into a big bowl of creamy herbed pasta, try their antipasti, risotti or dig into their delicious wood-fired pizzas.
This simple but cozy space serves primarily Italian cuisine but is not limited to it. The menu is modern, eclectic and influenced by decades of experience of the executive chef Krishna Kethle, who has worked in restaurants worldwide and dishes up a selection of crostini, healthy sandwiches, salads, burgers, wraps and bakes right through the day. They also serve hearty steaks and pot roasts which fall neatly into the comfort food category.
We can vouch for the pizzas. Especially the Garniture pizza made with seasoned potatoes, fresh thyme, sizzling brie and sour cream and the peri-peri chicken pizza with roasted garlic, bocconcini and red onions. Kethle reveals that his secret ingredients are smoked cherry tomatoes in the sauce, and good quality cheese in the topping. We also enjoyed the caprese pizza with a nutty basil pesto bocconcini and sun-dried tomatoes and the chilli garlic flambed seafood pizza with jalapeno peppers, wild mushrooms and sauteed onions. Simply excellent.
Vegetarians will love the spinach and ricotta ravioli in porcini cream sauce, generously smothered with Parmesan cheese, or penne with smoked cherry tomato sauce and broccoli florets. They also do a decent smoked sea salt and pepper-crusted beef steak with roast potatoes and béarnaise sauce, if steaks are your thing.
They have a wine license, so a glass of vino will complement the meal nicely. Every Thursday, a guitarist or a saxophone player will serenade you while you dine.
