composers revisiting old classics to make that perfect album. Be it Yeh Mera Dil from Don, Har Kisi Ko from the Akshay Kumar-starrer Boss or Mehbooba from Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag, this fad has always existed among the music circuits in Mumbai,
having grown stronger over the last few years. “As long as there is demand, there will always be supply. So the trend is
here to stay,” says singer and composer, Shankar Mahadevan. Here we look at three songs released in the past week that revisit their old-age originals, albeit with a twist.
Humma Humma-Ok Jaanu
Composed by Tanishk Bagchi (of Bolna from Kapoor & Sons fame) and Badshah, this reprisal of the original from Bombay (1995) has garnered almost 23 million views despite negative reviews. Refer P20
