Chocolate bouquets to welcome Sunny Leone at the Fire & Ice show in June to cocoa cradles for a baby shower—meet Sumi Shroff, whose canvas of chocolate seems to be getting quirkier by the day. She’s now taking her year-old Facebook venture, appropriately named Addicted to Chocolate, to the next level, with a takeaway store in Alwarpet. “The orders coming in have become so crazy that I need some display space. People want to get a feel of the kind of personalised hampers that I create,” says the 32-year-old, who hails from Agra and started making chocolates a year ago. In the past, these have included everything from almond clusters for corporates to miniature cars and ducks for giveaways at birthday parties.
“I’ve mostly created for kids,” admits the mother of two, emphasising, “When children want something, I don’t go to Google. Instead, I sit with the little one and we design it together!”
With 40 flavours of chocolates (all vegetarian), find everything from mango and mint to tutti-frutti and lemon. There is even a pepper option. The dark treats apart, the menu also features cookies, custom cakes and dessert jars. Not to mention a separate savoury section of Italian classics, including focaccia breads and a mean pesto sauce. Don’t miss out on her signature Ferrero Rocher cake, brookies (brownie cookies) and mudcake jars that have a following as far as Goa and Mumbai.
Rs 20 to Rs 1,500. Store opening on August 20 at Eldams Road, Alwarpet. Details: 8870714401
