Titora marks its debut in the city with a splash of vibrant hues

Started by city-based Sneha Satyaprakash and her childhood friend, Sanjana Rai from Chennai, Titora is a label that reflects the bohemian, free flowing style of its founders. Their capsule collection  showcased currently, features an eclectic range of ethnic wear options that can fit comfortably into the Indian resort wear category.

    Couture calling
“We grew up exposed to various forms of art and design when we studied at The Valley School,” begins Satyaprakash, referring  specifically to their famous Art Village housed in the campus. While Satyaprakash always had an affinity for craft and costume design, Rai was more inclined towards sketching, painting and photography. They went on to pursue their higher education at the University of Arts, London, where Satyaprakash studied fashion and Rai focused on retail management and photography. Now back home, the two decided to combine their creative synergies and launch their own design label.

    Mixed for comfort
“We make clothes that are vibrant, fun and easy. Much like ourselves,” Satyaprakash enthuses about their bright amalgam of easy-to-wear cuts and personal eccentric styles. From kurtas, anarkalis and saris to potlis that are a quirky mix of ethnic embroideries and neon shades, Titora is quite unique. Their summer range is instantly refreshing with bold neon yellows, mint greens, mithai pinks, aquas and indigos. “What better way to beat the heat than with a vivid array of colours and cuts,” she laughs.

While their casual range, comprising mainly of choga-style kurtas and tie-up kaftans, uses printing and dyeing techniques to create a multi-coloured palette, the more formal anarkalis and saris play with contrasts and embellishments for a richer look. Embroidery moves from colourful thread work to the more metallic zari work, while the fabrics range from pure silks, chiffons and georgettes, to voile and cotton. With great attention to detail and well cut silhouettes, Titora’s pieces are all free-size as they believe in fitting each piece exactly to size.
