There may be nothing like a home-cooked meal, but few would argue that the effort sometimes outweighs the results. Enter chefkraft.com – a portal that lets you wear the chef’s hat, but completely eliminates the stress. Portioned
and prepared ingredients are delivered fresh to your door, so all you have to do is follow the steps on the menu.
“Cooking is a lot about joy,” begins co-founder Mohit Mittal. “You feel good when you have made a meal yourself, and even better when it is appreciated by others.” With this in mind, he and partners Xerxes Bodhanwala (who is also executive chef of the Red Fork restaurant) and Vishnu I devised a start-up that would enable anyone to harness the expertise of seasoned chefs, and find fulfilment in their own kitchen. The recipes have been tried and tested by experts, and the portioned ingredients, which are delivered in a cool box, leave little room for error. The team places great emphasis on the quality of these ingredients, with fresh fruits and vegetables sourced from zero-pesticide supplier First Agro, and ingredients like salmon sourced from Norway. There is also a plan to offer antibiotic-free chicken, and trials with local suppliers are currently underway.
Take your pick
Keen to engage customers and offer regulars something new, the menu is extensively revised once a month. Pan Asian, Indian, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Italian cuisine all finds space, and popular dishes include the Moroccan vegetable stew, veg quesadillas and chicken burgers. “Just last month, we introduced a range called ‘minis’, which are light bites, and they are proving popular,” shares Mittal. They include local snacks like Bombay veg sliders, as well as falafel and pita sandwiches and Hoisin chicken wraps. Also look out for a new selection of ‘colourful’ salads, which promise to be healthy as well as delicious. Delivery is available across the city, with plans to expand into other metros imminent.
