Forum Vijaya Mall in Vadapalani has introduced a weekend flea market, just in time for the  festive days ahead. They call it OMG Bazaar, with 30 stalls focusing on Diwali and Navrath-ri needs. “Our event is themed around this festive season,” says Ashwini Nithya-nandam, marketing and communications manager, who took a cue from the Forum Mall at Kormangala in Bangalore – their flea markets on Wednesdays are very successful. “We have noticed more walk-ins,” she mentions, adding that the products don’t compete with what is already available at the mall.

The event is organised with Propeltree.com, a platform for entrepreneurs like photographers, retailers, bakers and more. “Most of the vendors you see are chosen from the site. Others are through word of mouth,” says Nithyanandam. Expect home décor items like traditional terracotta wall hangings and wind chimes from Potti Kadai. There is handmade jewellery, wallpapers, colourful diyas, neon accessories, Japanese konjac sponge (for natural face care), hair accessories, lace from Cleo and golu dolls. Plus, stop by the paintings, tattoo and airbrushing stall, a big draw. For the gifting season, pick up vibrant bags, kum-kum boxes, tambulam boxes from Wedtree and more.

The merchandise will change every week. “The first two weeks will focus on Navrathri. The last two weeks are about Diwali, so will include gifting ideas. There will be products like Indian sweets, cupcakes, homemade chocolates, wrappers and dry fruits,” offers Nithyanandam, who is excited about a photo booth they will be installing in the coming weeks. “Get a picture taken with a Navrathri background and upload it on Facebook right away,” she adds, already making plans for a Christmas bazaar in December.
Products are priced at Rs 50 onwards. From Friday to Sunday, all month. Details: 49049000
