From wardrobes to bath essentials at Nice Package’s Christmas special
Nice Package takes over Gallery Time & Space for Christmas Package, a five-day long exhibition of up-cycled furniture, Jaipur home linen, organic produce and plenty more. “The idea is to bring our favourite brands literally to the fore and provide our clients with the latest collections and a larger space for their festive shopping,” shares Susan George who helms the quirky little boutique. The highlight of the exhibition is the range of restored furniture by George herself. She sources old wardrobes, chairs, tables, sofas and chests, gives them a makeover either by changing their facade entirely with original art work and fresh upholstery or a quick face-lift with ‘a creative coat of varnish’.
Art in the closet
We loved her brightly painted wardrobes with contrast sections and beams, round tables and cupboards all hand-painted by reputed artist Prasanna Kumar with hints of nature. Plus, refurbished antique chests and teak wood chairs finished in the art-deco style (`2,800 upwards). “We take the ordinary and transform it into something quite unique,” says George who is also taking bespoke orders for her furniture line.
The other products range from bath essentials and health foods to European leather accessories and funky art work on paper, mugs and coasters by Paul Fernandes. Home linen sourced from Jaipur features vibrantly printed table cloths, cushion covers, dohars, quilts and bedspreads while apparel from the same source includes kurtas, jackets, skirts and scarves. We also loved her Blue Pottery collection of containers, plates and cut-glass lamps.
Bedi & Bedi add their latest collection of hats for men and women, while The Leather Boutique puts up their newest range of bags, wallets and leather accessories, this time made from exotic deer skin. You might want to try Ava, a home-grown brand of ayurvedic bath essentials that ranges from shower gels and scrubs to massage oils, body creams and lip balms. Or Econuts organic produce like indigo, spirulina and cold-pressed coconut oil. George is most excited about the range of kids toys she hand hand-picked from Channapatna. “The craft is amazing and I really want to promote it and help keep it alive,” she concludes.
