Keep your digits in style with Chamki
CREATIVE nail designs or an express manicure with a basic coat of polish, Chamki – India’s first exclusive nail brand, is your go-to studio. The mini pop-up shop in bustling Garuda Mall is run by Nina Bual, a young entrepreneur and spa expert. Bual started it keeping in mind the prolific use of colour in Indian festivals — matching bindis, bangles, shoes and jewellery. Yet nails were neglected. “We neglect our nails despite a 2,000-year-old history of decorating our hands with mehendi. I wanted Chamki to be the one-stop shop for nails,” says Bual.
Apart from over 70 shades to choose from, the Interactive Nail Bar allows you to first play around with the polish – look through pattern books and even spin the colour wheel to mix and match. Then, professional nail technicians add the final touches and suggest manicures, acrylics and exclusive nail art designs. “The kiosk is fundamentally a play station for customers to experience the different services and designs in nail art within an easy environment,” Bual explains. And choosing the colours is half the fun. They come with quirky desi names too. Like Nazar (black), Jhatak (bright pink) and Chudail (deep purple) with designs given creative, filmy names like Balam Pichkari and Rang Barse.
We chose rani pink with paisley green and started off on a quick manicure to revitalise the cuticles. Then, our nails turned into miniature works of art. “Chamki is about being creative, mixing and matching colours and experimenting with fun designs,” Bual says and we agree. You will go wild with the choices — purple and lassi white to chandan yellow and Sholay orange. A new colour for every outfit you have, we say! Look out for their cutesy gift boxes with nail paint and design stencils.
