Despite its strategic location near shopping haven Nungambakkam, the first thing that strikes you as you enter Opulence Spa is the stillness. It’s almost reflective, a combination of the soothing hues of the interiors, the serene faces of the masseurs, and the meditative Tibetan chants in the background. The city’s month old Opulence Spa, is real estate company PCH’s first step into the service industry. “Our USP is the pricing. We bring you a high quality spa experience for half the price you pay at a five star spa, without compromising on the quality,” says business head, Ben Rayleigh Anra.
Take the tour
It’s a compact little spa, with three single rooms, a couple’s room and a reflexology room. They are aesthetically furnished, well-stocked with towels, lotions and shampoos and come with attached bathrooms. Ten certified, experienced masseurs are available at your service. We approve of the handmade beds in Burmese teak, their comfortable reflexology chairs and the COB lighting that is an instant soother. “We are a completely massage centric spa. No other add-ons,” offers Ben.
On the menu
The standard unfussy spa menu covers regulars like Balinese, Thai, Swedish and hot stone massages. I am told the Bolus massage (90 mins) is just what is needed for my stressed nerves. The half hour massage, prior to the actual massage, is relaxing. Apparently, the heated herbal concoction is the secret stress reliever. This special massage is said to improve circulation, relax sore muscles and joints and stimulate pressure points. After a hot bath and some refreshing green tea, I am ready to face the world. A friend, who tried Spa Opulence over the weekend, highly recommends their foot reflexology and declares the masseurs have magic in their hands.
Best face forward
Those who love facials can try their specials like the Vitamin-C facial, a brightening and purifying skin facial designed to suit each skin type. We are told their body treatments are a must-try, especially their anti-aging treatment that is performed with tea extracts and is said to reduce wrinkles and lighten stretch marks.
Massage therapies are priced between Rs 500 and Rs 2,500, facials start from Rs 1950 and body treatments are priced at Rs 2,800 for 90 mins. Details: 43084447, 968857706690
