Give your jeans and jackets a large shot of attitude at Diesel’s Denim Master Studio.
There’s something brewing at the swanky Diesel store in UB City. And as we make our way around the racks and display tables laden with the latest collections, a mixture of hand-crafted distressed jeans and classic styles, loved by Diesel fans, stand out.
At one corner stands a bulky, barrel-like table. Its rotund surface is a sleek back and white, and announces that we have arrived at Diesel’s Denim Master Studio. Having launched last year in select markets around the globe, the Denim Master Studio, we are told, met with resounding success and has now made its way to India. Mumbai and Delhi were the first two stops on the itinerary, and it’s now Bengaluru’s turn to get its bling on. It’s expected to be stationed in Bengaluru for another month at the least.
Fitted with two metal contraptions that look straight out of a science lab, the Denim Master Studio is where you customise your jeans and jackets and up their style quotient with rivets, spikes, studs, and patches. While we were there, we first picked our favourite pair of jeans from Diesel’s latest collection. For the ongoing fall/winter season, the cuts from the Italian denim brand range from carrot to straight fits. Of course, the women’s section is sufficiently stacked with super skinny and skinny styles that have been trending for a while now. The colours remain fairly predictable — shades of black, grey, blues, and even a few whites.
After a round of fittings, we find the perfect pair, and make our way to the Denim Master Studio. Here, we scour through the boxes filled with shiny blue and pink studs, golden and silver spikes, star-shaped fasteners and rustic rivets with the Diesel logo. There are also patches – the Diesel logo and designs that have been a hit with clients over the years. From here, we let our imagination run wild.
There’s a guidebook that comes handy, but personal style is what reigns supreme at the Design Master Studio (incidentally, a customer in Delhi chose up to 500 studs on one pair of jeans!). We place rivets, studs, and patches according to our aesthetics and with a little help from the Diesel folks manning the contraption (each stud or patch takes about five minutes to fix), we walk out with
a stylish pair within minutes.
Rs 100 (for each stud) and `500 (for each patch); denims begin at Rs 10,000. At Vittal Mallya Road.
