Looks like 2014 is off to a great start. New Year’s resolutions are being given a serious twist as social media becomes a big part of the plan. We were given a  series of instructions: share pictures of things that make you happy, or moments that make you remember a specific day, then let’s see if we can do it for a 100 days in a row. Seems simple enough… or is it? And I love that the celebrities are getting in on it. In fact Priyanka Chopra’s personal account shows a bunch of pictures from her recent visit to Chennai. “And that’s how you bring it in! Thank you Chennai, you were amazing!” is what accompanied backstage peeks and a couple of super dramatic close ups, from her own perspective. Thankfully, we have better pictures for you.

The actor was here to ring in the New Year at the Park Hyatt. Helping the ‘desi girl’ along, was master of percussion, Sivamani, who kept saying how excited he was to be back in namma Chennai. The performance was short but power-packed, showcasing a stunning Priyanka, dancing to all of her biggest hits. And you’ve got to love the fact that Miss ‘Piggy Chops’ stayed on for pictures with her adoring fans. Her departure from the city was also marked with a quick selfie, promising us she’ll be back soon.

Also keeping us busy this week was the Chennai Open, with the finals on Sunday seeing Stanislas Wawrinka emerge the winner. During the week, players kept themselves busy, and us entertained, with a series of activities—from cooking to playing tennis with the kids.
Rohan Bopanna and Aisam Qureshi, popularly known as the Indo-Pak Express, participated in a cook-off at Focaccia. Chef Gopi, one of the judges, didn’t seem too worried, and both players looked like they could handle it. The challenge was simple—pizza and a salad. The boys chose mostly unconventional ingredients and Bopanna’s aubergine pizza earned him the title of ‘baingan Bopanna’. Post the hard work, the dishes were presented and both declared delicious by the judges. In the kitchen, it appears it’s a win-win for all.
