Gear up for a weekend of retail therapy at this pop-up bazaar
Susan Fernandes curates Pop Up No. 10 at her Magrath Road bungalow, bringing together hand-picked designers, accessories and home-chefs “chosen because of their uniqueness, exclusivity and novelty,” she tells us.
A designer herself, Fernandes will be stocking the Anu and Susan 2014 day wear collection at the event. The line is marked by the beautiful use of colour, interplay of textures and flattering fits, embellished with zips, lace and embroidery.
Their Astra Men’s line will also debut with an array of limited edition day shirts, with prints and light fabrics. Other brands participating include Paarisha by Chinanshu, Arnav, Iha saris and Azu.
Paarisha is a collection of handcrafted, quirky jewellery made with unconventional objects like nuts and bolts, while Azu’s line up of leather footwear, includes slippers, wedges, and gladiator sandals from Africa. Crafted by Kenyan artisans Akamba and Giriama, the pieces come with bright glass beads, shells and stones. Iha saris highlights crafts from around the country so expect contemporary Indian drapes, salwar fabrics and dupattas. The Arnav jewellery label will bring you heirloom inspired pieces transformed into urban chic.
Simla Zaveri joins Paarisha, with heritage Indian jewellery inspired by nature, using uncut diamonds and precious stones set in 22k gold.
Give your little munchkin’s wardrobe some outre style with Mayaloka, an interesting fusion of Japanese designs crafted with Kanjeevaram silks.
Art to preserves
Apart from fashion, the bazaar also plays host to select range of home decor, gift wrapping and food stalls like Temple Tree (paper products), Hamsini (home linen), The Garden House (custom gift wrapping), and Martha’s Preserves (gourmet jams and sauces). For some nostalgic collectibles, check out the aPaulogy stall with their watercolour prints, mugs, coasters, sling bags, notebooks and hook frames, inspired by 70s Bangalore.
Before leaving, sink your teeth into some gourmet desserts like brownies, cookies and cupcakes by Sugar Goddess or, if you’re a chocoholic, Mubeena Shariff Chocolatier has some fine hand-crafted chocolates.
At No 10, Magrath Road. September 13 and 14, 10 am to 7 pm. Details: facebook.com/pages/ Pop-Up-No10
