A peek at the new entrants on the charts

LA Love
Fergie makes a strong comeback
after eight years with her new
track LA Love, currently at number 33. True to her irreverent brand of hip hop with beats that are just too good not to move to, the song is sure to reach the top of the charts in no time. While fans complain that it’s a little predictable, it’s hard to leave without the melody stuck
in your head.
Baby Don’t Lie
Gwen Stefani too is back on the
scene with Baby Don’t Lie, a reggae- inspired track that is set to take nightclubs by storm. A much mellower sound from the star, this one sees a mix of upbeat synth and drums and currently holds the 36th spot on the charts. Though essentially a good track, we must
say we expected much more
from Stefani.
Lips Are Movin
While this new track from Meghan Trainor does sound like a remix of All About the Bass, it doesn’t mean it’s not a good one. Currently at number 39 on the charts, the song talks about Trainor’s experience with a lying boyfriend. Unlike AATB, this one sees Trainor’s beautiful, soulful vocals taking centrestage.
Secrets
In Secrets, Mary Lambert sings
about topics like weight, sexual
orientation, dysfunctional families
and unfortunate fashion choices. The track enters the charts at the 40th spot and while the chorus is quite catchy,
the rest of the song misses the
mark, we say.
