While Iam a strong believer in the mellow, relaxed Sunday, this one turned out to be anything but. We donat mind making the occasional exception though, especially with an invite as enticing as this one. As always the party started early, with multiple stops, and continued late into the night. First on the list, Lakshmi and TKas brunch, celebrating their daughter Pavithraas birthday at the Hyatt Regency. Brunches have, of course, taken on a whole new meaning, morphing into a sundowner that packs a punch. Overcast skies proved to be just the right setting as guests sipped on mimosas and toasted the birthday girl.
Following in her parentsa footsteps, Pavithra has amassed a huge group of friends, and the diverse guest list reflected exactly that. Many selfies, glasses of bubbly and cake later, day turned to night with DJ Sameer Shroff taking over at the console.
The next stop was The Leather Bar for Bombay Central at The Park. The crowds trooped in as the evening wore on, spilling out on to the balcony.
People were on their feet throughout with a few enthusiastic guests even taking to the bar to show off some moves.
Mid-week, the focus shifted to couture as Satya Paul along with the E Club Chennai, hosted a preview of a?Icarusa by Masaba Gupta.
The young designer who has quickly become a fashion favourite with women across the board, was here in person to showcase the collection and meet her many loyal fans. While the collection saw everything from silky dresses to breezy separates, the signature sari retained its place as the core offering and seemed to be the crowd favourite. In fact, many of the ladies were spotted in Satya Paul drapes from over the years. Masaba, of course, spoke of her fondness for Chennai and its discerning audience. The fashion show ended with the appearance of the showstopper, actress Sonia Agarwal, in a sleek black sari.
