Looks like itas cricket mania time again, as a brand new wave hits us with the Tamil Nadu Premiere League. With freshers alongside players from the Indian teamawho will be battling it out across the stateait goes without saying that the fans are already in a frenzied state. The launch of the home team, Chepauk Super Gillies, at ITC Grand CholaAon SaturdayAsaw it raining Kollywood starlets, proclaiming their allegiance to the team from South Chennai. Samantha Prabhu, Hansika Motwani, Rai Lakshmi and Vedika were a few names on the rather glamorous list. Along with the formalities, the players also did a small catwalk for the crowd, joining the models on the ramp. The same venue, earlier in the week, had seen the official launch of the TNPL anthem and trophy, with the eight team captains, and chief guest MS Dhoni, helping to kick things into high gear. All it took from a?Captain Coola was a couple of words of Tamil, apologetically strung together, for the audience to go crazy. He also spoke about the importance of tournaments like this to highlight talented players from smaller cities.
Saturday saw the launch of Feathers, a luxury hotel in the city by the Radha Group of Hotels. Chennaias bold and beautiful were invited to enjoy the new space over drinks, dinner and, of course, a fashion show. The sequences started off with bridal wear, moving to a corporate vibe, a concept built around the various avatars of the new ballroom. One sequence even had the models showcasing plates of food, dressed in chefsa whites. For the finale, it was designer Asif Merchantas signature piecesaa range of white gowns with feather accents. Post the show, the party moved to Vapor, the bar on the upper level. The guest list saw a heavy expat crowd with a sprinkling of page three regulars.
