Hard Rock Cafe’s new menu boasts global infusions and innovative drinks
Hard Rock Cafe likes to keep its patrons guessing, with new menus, special promotions and food festivals, year round. The latest treat is the Smoke, Fire and Spice menu that brings together flavours from across the world, not to mention a line-up of interesting and lethal-sounding cocktails. Using the Mexican favourite, fajita platter, as the base, diners can choose from a choice of proteins and sauces, that are served as a sizzler, with naan, a marinated salad, roasted vegetables, mixed cheeses and complementary sauces. Borrowed from places like Morocco and South Africa, the sauces you can opt for include chipotle, piripiri, satay, chimichurri, harissa and charmoula.
We sampled a little bit of everything, and as expected, the cafe did not disappoint. The chicken with chipotle sauce (chipotle pepper, onion and garlic) was one of the highlights. Those who prefer to stick to Asian flavours can opt for the Satay, that combines peanuts and soy sauce. Refreshing and light, the chimichurri works rather well with both the chicken and paneer. A blend of parsley, cilantro, basil and garlic, it is perfectly balanced by a hint of black pepper.
The cocktails are innovative and with names such as Trip To Hell and Triple Threat, are intriguing as well. While the former features a mix of light and dark rums, brandy and almond liqueur with a dash of orange juice, the latter (to be shared between two people) is a concoction of three rums, grenadine, grog mix and orange juice. More on the mild side, our pick is the Sangria Rosa — Rose wine, Bacardi rum, orange liqueur, sangria mix, strawberry bits, blueberries and lime.Rs 2,500++ for two. At St Mark’s Road.
