Two days on campus with creativity and reasoning

Be a part of Sameeksha, the annual engineering fest at MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT). “The events, including debates, model making and quizzes, are based on concepts of civil engineering to test your knowledge and applicative skills,” states festival coordinator, Krithi VN.

    On the cards
Day one starts (11.30 am) with Mega Pascals — a session that will test your cube casting skills. Construct a cube using materials like cement and pebbles. If you want to listen to ideas for a greener and better Bangalore, CEvolution, a paper presentation on the topic is the one you should register for right away. “I will be judging them on the idea and how they present them on stage. They each have 10 minutes to impress me,” says R Prabhakara, HOD, Civil Engineering. Geo  genius promises to be a tough event framed to test the knowledge of students in the geo-technical field of engineering (the branch of civil engineering concerned with the behavior of earth materials like minerals, rocks and soil). It also includes questions and concepts based on hydraulics and fluid mechanics. Build It If You Can is a model-making event for all you mechanics, where you have to build a sturdy suspension bridge using popsicle sticks, glue and binding wires — all within three hours. It tests your understanding of the concepts and the balancing and distribution of weight. Win and you’ll match up to Isambard Brunel of the famous Clifton Bridge in Bristol! Then, head across to brush up your knowledge on current trends in the field of civil engineering through Confluence, which is a technical debate session.

    More to go
Day two starts at 9.30 am, where logophiles can register for Crypt Cross Hang – a fun-filled, topical quiz. If you have time to kill, you could hang around for usual suspects like Get Set Survey – a treasure hunt event, CiviQ – the trademark quiz and Exhibition – a flea market displaying materials like stones, bricks and tiles used in the construction industry today.
