Eka, the swatantra rock band, promises high energy music at its maiden concert in the city
They’ve been performing for four years, but this is the first time Delhi-based band Eka is coming to the city. “We’re very excited to be reaching out to a newer audience,” says Hitesh Madan, one of the band members, of their maiden performance today at SRM University’s AARUUSH ’14, a techno management fest.
Former members of rock band Euphoria, Benjamine Pinto (keyboard and vocals) and Madan (vocals and guitar), joined forces with Lokesh Madan (vocals and bass) in 2010 to form Eka. Having performed at over 2,200 concerts around the world—including the Indo-Pak peace concert at the UN General Assembly Hall—they’ve christened their music ‘swatantra rock’ because theirs is music that transcends genres and boundaries.
Currently working on their still untitled debut album, planned to release in 2015, Eka promises a diverse mix of songs at the concert. “From our originals like Satyameva Jayate, Dil Kho Gaya, Nimboo Paani, Aaye Tum, Jaane Kyun I Love You, Chalte Jaana and Habba, to some popular, classic and contemporary Hindi medleys, classic rock, Sufi, Punjabi and more. We’re also planning a medley of songs in South Indian languages like Tamil and Telugu, as a special feature,” Madan signs off.
Today, at 5.30 pm, at Dr TP Ganesan Auditorium, Kattankulathur. Details: in.bookmyshow.com
