Demigod Perseus (Worthington) has no real knowledge of his celestial origins until Io (Arterton) tells him that he is the offspring of Zeus (Neeson), brother to Poseidon and Hades (Fiennes). After Hades kills all of Perseus’ kin, the latter vows revenge and sets out to defeat the Kraken, a force that Hades will unleash should King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia fail to handover their daughter Andromeda (Aleaxa Davalos) as sacrifice. This is a remake of the 1981 movie of the same name.

Carter Chambers (Freeman), a quiet and intelligent mechanic, strikes up a friendship with fellow cancer patient Edward Cole (Nicholson), a belligerent billionaire, at the hospital where they are sharing a room. Chambers begins to write a list of things he wants to do before kicking the bucket – but on finding out that he didn’t even have a year, he gives up on the list. Cole steps in and insists they give it a try. As they strike off each item from the list, the duo come closer to things that truly matter in life. Morgan Freeman’s real life son, Alphonso Freeman, plays his son in the movie too.

Eragon (Speleers) sees his life change when he comes across a dragon egg on a routine hunting trip. The humble farm boy living in the village of
Carvahall with his father and brother, takes it upon himself to nurse the dragon Saphira, and develops a connection with her that makes him a dragon-rider. With his mentor Brom (Irons) by his side, he joins forces with the rebels to battle the evil king Galbatorix, who has a huge army and the evil sorcerer Durza on his side. Elijah Wood and Shia LeBeouf were also considered for the role of Eragon.

The movie revolves around Walt Disney’s (Hanks) efforts to persuade Pamela Travers (Thompson), the celebrated author of Mary Poppins, to adapt her story for screen. Extremely finicky about her demands, she asks Disney not to include animation in it or make any changes in the film adaptation without her consent. She gets angry every time they include a song or a dance routine, insisting that they are portraying a rosy and whimsy Mary Poppins, which is not how she had written her. Disney gradually learns of Travers’ tough childhood and tries one last time to convince her to agree to make the movie. Tom Hanks spent two days listening to archival recordings at Disney’s family museum in San Francisco to prepare for the role.

At the age of 17, cowgirl and trick rider Dakota Rose (Ramm) learns that she was adopted. On her visit to her grandfather’s place, rodeo legend Austin Rose (Carradine), she sets out to find her real parents but soon realises that a true family is not just about being connected by blood, but also about mutual commitment and love. So, with renewed vigour she sets out to be a track riding champion in a tournament. This movie is a sequel to the 2012 film Cowgirls ‘N Angels.

The traditional and shy Meera (Penty) leaves her family and heads to London to live with her husband Kunal (Hooda), whom she later realises only married her for the money. Estranged in London, she is befriended by party girl Veronica (Padukone) who lets her stay at her place. Later, at a club, Meera comes across Gautam (Khan), who had previously flirted with her at the London airport. Gautam befriends Veronica at the party and ends up at her place too, much to Meera’s disapproval. Soon, Veronica and Gautam get into a relationship. But when Gautam’s mother surprises them with a visit, the three friends have to make some tough decisions. The movie is written by Imtiaz Ali, director of Love Aj Kal, which also stars Saif and Deepika.

The movie begins with the murder of Aisha Verma (Kapoor) by a mysterious, caped man. Guru Pratap Singh (Malhotra), who had once worked for a gangster, is immediately blamed by the police for the murder of his wife. But the true killer is someone else. As Singh sets out to find him, in flashbacks he recollects the beautiful moments he had shared with his wife. In a parallel plot, we discover the life of Rakesh Mahadkar (Deshmukh) who is constantly ridiculed by his wife. But he has a dangerous alter-ego which no one knows about. Singh tracks down Mahadkar and plans his revenge . This is the director Mohit Suri’s second consecutive movie after Aashiqui 2 to enter the Rs.100-crore club.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (Action/Adventure), Star Movies HD, 9 pm

Sue Storm (Alba) and Reed Richards (Gruffudd) are set to get married when the latter learns about a comet-like object hurtling towards Earth. It soon hits Manhattan, and Storm and Richards realise it is actually the Silver Surfer, out to destroy this planet like many before it. With his arrival triggering blackouts and tropical storms, they are forced to revive the old gang including Ben Grimm (Chiklis) and Johnny Storm (Evans). But then they find out that it’s not just the Silver Surfer who they are up against. This is a sequel to the 2005 film Fantastic Four.

Wealthy businessman Aditya Kashyap (Kapur) is a mess. His father Dharamraj is dead, and his ex-girlfriend is marrying someone else. Depressed, he boards a train where he meets the talkative and happy-go-lucky Geet (Kapoor), who later misses the train after attempting to help Aditya board it, thinking he is going to miss it himself. He then helps her reach her home in Bhatinda, where he is allowed to stay for a few days, before he moves on. But Geet has her own plans and soon Aditya finds himself in the middle of a crazy adventure. Kareena Kapoor received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her role.
