In town for the fourth time, the pop-up has new retail experiences and a host of new designers
Imagine this: browsing, indulging in some affordable fashion, mixing and mingling, sipping on cocktails, getting a foot rub, snacking on feel-good organic bite-sized delicacies while the DJ plays your favourite tunes, and getting to try your hand at bartending all under the same roof a whatas not to like about a fashion soiree like that? Pavithra Sagar and Nikita Bajaj of Funky Fish think so too as they bring us a?Behind Closed Doorsa, a pop-up show which is set to become an experiential shopping extravaganza. Fueling the retail revolution is the idea of temporary pop-ups. Both exciting and accessible, Funky Fish revisits the format with their fourth curated shopping experience in the city. Inspired by the overwhelming response to their Desi Popup last year, this time they bring us predominantly western wear, and are set to become an annual event.
Behind Closed Doors will open with 22 designers, including Turquoise & Gold, Farah Sanjana, Surendri by Yogesh Chaudhury, Urvashi Joneja, Nida Mahmood, Kanella by Kanika Jain and more from across the country. Many of them have shown at leading fashion weeks.A a?We have carefully curated western and Indo-western clothing and accessories to suit the contemporary Chennaiiteas fashion sensibilities. The dAcor is courtesy A3 Project by Ambika, which will keep the space spring-summery and fresh. Adding to the experience is the presence of stylists, a fusion of cocktails by Absolut, canapes, one-bite wonders, organic snacks and smoothies by hospitality partner Crowne Plaza, a beauty zone by Clarins and a spa zone by the hotel. Live music in the lounge setting will keep everyone upbeat while they indulge themselves,a? says former model and fashion merchandiser, Pavithra Sagar.
And thereas more
With an in-house stylist and customisation options for the outfits you pick up, this pop-up can make it difficult for other such events to keep up. Given Sagaras experience in the fashion world and Bajajas entrepreneurial background and work with powerhouse fashion brands like Stella McCartney, this event promises to be unique. Whatas more, a chef will teach you to bake, fix a quick salad and you will also learn a few bartending tricks. CaratLane, the jewellery brand, will have a display and sale of fine jewellery by Farah Khan. A photo booth should give you some moments to treasure before you walk home with the goodie bags. And the final treat? A test drive for the ladies, from Volvo. Women must RSVP as seats are limited, owing to the huge rush at the teamas earlier event.
On February 27, at Crowne Plaza, from 11 am to 6 pm. Details: 24994101
