Carrying forward the Fool’s Day spirit, we list Hollywood’s new pranksters, who are taking over from George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp
Following in the footsteps of George Clooney, 21-year-old singer, Demi Lovato, pulled a prank on Little Mix, a British four-piece girl group. The singer did not let the group finish their final performance on their Neon Lights Tour without a little something special. So she dressed up as a snowman and stormed the stage. The audience at St Paul, Minnesota, got the added bonus of seeing the singer jumping around, trying to keep up with their dance moves. The former Disney actress shared a shot of the hilarious moment on Twitter alongside the caption, ‘‘Tonight’s prank for @LittleMixOffic’s last show on the #NEONLIGHTSTOUR…Hehe heart you girls!!!’’
Off the stage
Comic actor Sacha Baron Cohen shocked a Hollywood audience by pushing an elderly woman in a wheelchair off the stage, while accepting the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy. The incident was actually a prank by Cohen, known for his past roles as Borat Sagdiyev in Borat and Bruno Gehard in Bruno. The actress was purported to have appeared in the 1931 Chaplin film, City Lights.
Josh Hutcherson seems to be the new prankster in Hollywood. On the sets of Hunger Games: Catching Fire, he entered Sam Claflin’s trailer and sprayed something that smelled really bad. Sam couldn’t figure out why his trailer stank, and kept accusing people of sneaking into his trailer to defecate. Hutcherson also pranked Jennifer Lawrence and drove her to tears. He put a life-size dummy with a mangled face in her bathroom. “She opened the door, saw the dummy and peed in her pants,” says the actor who worked with Lawrence in the second installment of Hunger Games.
On the carpet
Vitalii Sediuk, one of the most notorious Hollywood red carpet pranksters, was at his best recently. The Ukrainian journalist — who has been escorted off the Grammy’s stage and has been slapped by Will Smith in the past was busy hugging Bradley Cooper’s legs at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Sediuk first shook hands with the American Hustle actor and then wrapped his arms around Cooper’s thighs. Then, Sediuk surprised Leonardo DiCaprio at the 29th Santa Barbara International Film Festival with the same gag. DiCaprio cracked a small smile while security unwrapped Sediuk from around his legs.
Looks like humour runs deep in the Kardashian family. First, Kim Kardashian’s mum and sister drunkenly plastered their house with toilet paper and silly string on TV. Then Khloe teamed up with little sister Kendall Jenner, to pull a prank on their 16-year-old sister, Kylie Jenner. The two hacked Kylie’s Twitter account and began tweeting about (what else?)— male and female private parts. Finally, Kylie took to Twitter to clear up that it was her sisters. Then there was Kim, dressed as her own fan trying for the post of Kim’s secretary, with frizzy hair, fake teeth, big glasses and even a few wrinkles for the new American show, Celebrities Undercover. She successfully fooled her own sister, Kourtney Kardashian, who didn’t recognise Kim until she pulled off the wig for the big reveal.
