Kiton and Hackett step into the country with a service for the fashionably discerning modern man
From Italy and Britain, come two luxury brands with Made to Measure services for the man who wants more than just a brand tag. Favoured by celebrities like George Cloony and Samuel L Jackson, these brands have been associated with sophistication, design innovation and now customised tailoring. Jeremy Hackett and Pratik Dalmia tell us more about their bespoke service.
AFTER three flagship stores in New Delhi, Chandigarh and Bangalore, Hackett launches their Personal Tailoring service for the Indian fashion connoisseur.
At the recent black tie BAFTA Awards ceremony in London, stars like Samuel L Jackson, Alfie Allen and Emun Elliot, were spotted in impeccable Hackett suits. Now, fashionable Indian men can avail of the services of a professional tailor from London and high quality fabrics, suitable for warmer climes. “We offer custom fabrics from British mills, from the classic to the flamboyant,” shares Hackett about the service that encourages you to customise finer details such as “pocket arrangement, buttons and linings, so you can match the suit to your individual taste”. Fit options range from the classic to the modern, in a choice of fabrics that “mirror the Scottish tweed look but in much lighter weights”.

The combined creativity of Ciro Paone and Antonio Carola put Naples (known then for mafioso rather than style) on the fashion map back in 1956 with Kiton, a luxe men’s clothing brand endorsed by George Clooney in Oceans 13. Now Regalia Luxury Retail brings their made-to-measure tailoring service to India to cater to ‘ the individual sensibilities of the true Indian sartorialist’.
“At Kiton, our clothes are 100 per cent hand-crafted and hand-sewn- adding sprezzatura (effortless style) to fine fabric,” says Dalmia, founder of Regalia Luxury Retail. They use soft and flexible British and Italian fabrics woven from Merino wool and superior cotton blended with fine cashmere. The jacket is enhanced by a soft canvas chest-liner that allows it to move easily and still retain its elegant cut, very different from those available at Saville Row. “Tailors at Kiton, learn to make jackets that are more closely shaped to the natural slope of the back, neck, and shoulders than other styles” explains Dalmia.
Their expert team in India will meet with clients and measure them up for individual pieces. Each suit takes 25 hours to be crafted by the master tailors in Naples.
