    carnival promises a day of music, dance, theatre, storytelling and more

    Mahindra Lifespaces gives kids a chance to disconnect from their iPads, tablets and other gadgets and connect with the real world through the Cubs of Cubbon Festival, the first of its kind to be held in Bengaluru. Set in the picturesque Cubbon Park, the carnival promises to be a lively affair with activities relating to topics as varied as music, environmental awareness, art, theatre and even dance.
    The musically inclined can head to the Music Mashup workshop by Alan Rego, who will conduct song and dance sessions apart from musical games. Also included will be a demonstration of 20 different instruments, like guitar, mandolin, flute and drums.

    Spinning a tale
    For those with a penchant for stories, there is the Art Attack workshop by Arthi Anand,who will make the tales come alive with fun songs, dance and trivia woven into the narration. Sourced from prominent childrena��s publishers such as Karadi Tales, Tulika and DC Mango Books, this one requires kids to bring along glue, pencils and pens for some of the activities. Also offering a different story-telling experience is Aarti Kathpalia of Tickles and Tales, through puppetry and props, driving home the story more effectively to impressionable minds. The topic she will focus on will be nature and all its various aspects.

    Tharangini, an organisation thata��s been in the business since 1977 brings a fun block printing session. With a special focus on organic and eco-friendly colours, the family-run business includes block printers, wood block carvers and eco / organic colour experts. Kids will get to do their own printing with teak wood blocks bearing nature-inspired designs, on handmade paper gift bags. They will also be shown various natural materials used in the manufacturing of colours.

    Other activities include DIY Garden, eco-friendly soap making, pottery workshop, recycling waste bags, origami, bamboo art, a dance workshop by ASDA, nature trail, heritage walk, magic show and much more. December 7, 8 am to 5.30 pm. Entry free. At Bal Bhavan. Details: 9167077186
