Macedonian wines by Dalvina are set to hit bars in a week
To cut a long story short, Chennai will soon be enjoying wines from Macedonia, courtesy an Australian company with a presence in India. The wines in discussion are the produce of six-year-old wine makers Dalvina, who will be distributed in Australia and India by DrinksRUs Beverages. At a launch event at GRT Grand earlier this week, we got chatting with Zlate Niceski, the director of DrinksRUS, and learnt that out of the ten plus wines produced by Dalvina, only seven will hit shelves in India for now. Niceski admits that this is only to test the waters, but customers will have the option of placing orders for the rest of Dalvina’s wines (like their Rkaciteli, for instance) through DrinksRUs.
“The Vranec is a signature grape in Macedonia,” he tells us, sharing that the Vranec Tiver (a full bodied red with notes of black pepper and ground coffee) is one of his favourites. Their flagship wine is the Synthesis, a blend of Vranec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for two years in Macedonian oak. “The winery sponsors a Macedonian band called Synthesis, and this product was named after them,” we’re informed by Babu Srinivasan, CEO DrinksRUs. Also on offer will be a Chardonnay and Muscat Hamburg rose in addition to a Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wines are expected to be priced between Rs. 350 and Rs. 2,000 per bottle, excluding duty. Details: dalvina.com.mk
