With their daily subscription service, A Salad Company promises to make your lunchtime healthier
With the dawn of the New Year, B Sreevarshini is looking forward to starting operations of her new venture, A Salad Company. From Monday, her brand will offer salads, in-house breads and pastas that will be delivered (via wedeliverlocal.com) to offices and homes at lunchtime. “Our research revealed a definite lack of subscription-based health food options in the city,” Sreevarshini shares.
Their 1,000 sq ft kitchen in Thuraipakkam is manned by seven cooks led by chef S Bala, who has 12 years of experience. “He gave us valuable inputs on the use of healthy cereals like ragi and whole wheat in place of maida while making pastas,” she adds. There are around 30 varities of salads on her menu, each with its own vegetarian and non vegetarian variants. “We also make whole-wheat breads,” she says, adding that all their ingredients and raw materials are sourced locally.
At A Salad Company you can either subscribe for daily lunches or choose for packages ranging from three to 21 days. The menu for the first week is already out and we find offerings like vegetarian Caesar salad with whole wheat rolls, a boiled egg salad with chicken au gratin (served with garlic bread),and paneer skewers, among other dishes. “Other salads include salad nicoise, panzanella, Waldorf salad, tabbouleh, etc,” she adds. With plans to serve breakfast soon, Sreevarshini also intends to bring the entire city under her radar. But for now, she is only delivering in South Chennai — to places like OMR, ECR and Thiruvanmiyur.
Orders need to be placed a day in advance, and deliveries will be made between 11.30 am and 1 pm. Prices from `140 per day. Details: asaladcompany.com
